West Riding Trophy Final
Our first team played their semi-final at the home of the West Riding (Woodlesford, Leeds) on Wednesday 19th March, against Springhall FC.
The game was played in good spirit and each team showed their good style and passing games. With the score-line 0-0 at half-time it was always a close encounter with both keepers called upon on a couple of occasions, both producing outstanding saves.
In the second half, Honley started the stronger and Oliver Willets shot was well saved onto the post. Honley opened the scoring on 60 minutes through Jamie Taylor. A flicked ball from Dylan Brett put the Hall defender under pressure and Taylor stole the ball off him and prodded home.
Taylor turned provider as his cross was fired home by Brett in the 75 minute.
Taylor then snatched a third in the 83rd minute to secure Honley passage into the final against either Morley Town or Settle FC, again at Woodlesford on Wednesday 23rd April – 7:30pm KO.
